Silicone can be supplied as an oil, grease, sealant, or rubber. The rubber is typically supplied in one of three forms - a room temperature vulcanisation (RTV) kit, as a liquid, or as high consistency rubber (HCR). Primasil are the UK leaders in the formulation and processing of high consistency silicone rubber, and are experts at moulding liquid silicone components. In its uncured (un-vulcanised) form, the consistency of HCR silicone ranges from soft putty to cheddar cheese! This is in sharp contrast to most other rubbers, which have a much higher viscosity.
Silicone rubber is an extraordinary material. With subtle alterations to its chemistry the changes in properties can produce material safe enough for baby bottle teats, and parts tough enough to withstand the demands of jet engines. Combined with its outstanding cosmetic and tactile attributes, silicone’s technical capabilities make this versatile polymer the material of choice for applications operating in diverse and challenging environments.
“Realistic cost savings, coupled with flexibility and experience, are the reasons why Primasil are the market leaders in UK silicone”
