In its natural state, silicone is useless as a manufacturing material. By adding the appropriate additives, in the correct quantities, the silicone is transformed into a highly specific material. This process is called ‘compounding’, and Primasil are the UK experts.

Unlike most other manufacturers of silicone products, Primasil formulate and mix silicone compounds on site.

First, we will work with you to identify the most suitable material to satisfy the requirements of your product. This will typically depend on the working environment and life expectancy of the part, processing methods, and any financial constraints.

Next, we will select an existing material that “ticks the most boxes”. As we have a library of thousands of materials, we frequently find a close match. We do not want to reinvent the wheel, as this will increase our costs. However, we will typically customise the material as this gives our customers an important competitive advantage over their competitors, who tolerate ‘as near as we can get it’ alternatives.

Samples will be produced, which will undergo testing either solely in our laboratory, or at your production facility. Based on the outcome of these initial trials, we can further modify the material as many times as is needed. The goal is to create the material that best suits your needs.

The final compound will be mixed by Primasil technicians with many years’ compounding experience in strict accordance with ISO9001:2000 procedures.

We will deliver the compound to your facility in a pre-formed state so that it can seamlessly enter your manufacturing process.
