Nitrile (NBR)

Nitrile is commonly considered the workhorse of the industrial and automotive rubber products industries.

With a continuous use temperature range of -40C to +121C, NBR materials can withstand all but the most severe automotive applications, and is used in hose, seals and grommets, and water handling applications. On the industrial side NBR finds uses in roll covers, hydraulic hoses, conveyor belting, and seals for all kinds of plumbing and appliance applications.

Advantages: Oil, inorganic chemical and aliphatic hydrocarbon resistant rubber.

Limitations: Moderate ageing resistance; relatively poor resistance to low temperatures; limited ozone resistance.
Most classes of organic chemicals will attack it.
