The original rubber!
A widely developed material, natural rubber is produced from tree sap (latex).
In addition to having the lowest cost of all the rubbers, it also has the advantage of coming from a naturally replenishable source. The rubber trees are used to make furniture at the end of their 'rubber' lives and are replaced by young trees for future rubber production.
Advantages: Good dynamic, mechanical and fatigue properties; high strength, resilience and abrasion properties.
Limitations: Suffers from poor oxidation, ozone, oil and solvent resistance. Temperature resistance is also relatively poor.
